![]() Chains and links are always popular jewellery motifs, I love how they can be reinvented season after season. I usually add them in one form or another to each new collection. I still have the 2 inches of rope chain I made by hand in college, it took ages but felt like a big achievement back then. Of course it's great to be able to use interesting off the shelf chains, and makes economic sense when jewellery making, but it is satisfying sometimes to make your own. A few years ago I collaborated with lovely Welsh milliner Catherine Povey on a range of headpieces based on Welsh goddesses and characters from the Mabinogion - the picture shows 'Rhiannon' made of silk, pheasant feathers and silver chain mail - I made the links while watching Merlin for inspiration! I'm currently working on a new component link for my latest range. It's spiked and so I'm giving my hands a break by blogging! I'll be adding to the site when the collection is ready. If you are looking for an accessory to go with ANYTHING in your wardrobe, a chain of some kind will work every time.
